The CM IT Internship Program, officially “Work for Punjab: Chief Minister IT Internship Program”, places unemployed Punjab graduates in IT companies for paid internships. It is run by the Punjab Government with the Punjab Information Technology Board, the Pakistan Software Houses Association and the Pakistan Software Export Board. Interns get Rs 50,000 a month for 4 months, and the candidate sign-up form was open when we checked on 27 October 2026.

How to apply for the CM IT Internship
- Open cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk and tap Apply Now.
- On the Create Account page, choose Candidate.
- Enter your full name as per CNIC, your email twice, your CNIC twice, your mobile number and network, and a password. Tick the terms, type the code shown and tap Sign Up.
- Log in and complete your profile with your degree, university and graduation year.
- The portal lists the selection steps that follow: aptitude test, HEC degree verification, interview, final selection and an international certification.

CM IT Internship eligibility criteria and requirements
The portal lists five conditions, and you must meet all of them. You need at least 16 years of education in one of the listed subjects or a closely related one, which in practice means a four-year BS or a master’s degree. You must have graduated within the last four years. You must be unemployed when you apply, because the program is meant to give a first step into work. You must be a Punjab resident with a Punjab CNIC and domicile. And the program is open to all genders. The portal’s FAQ adds that you must not have done a government internship before.
The program’s stated purpose is to improve the employability of fresh graduates through hands-on industry experience, with mentorship and exposure to real projects. It is not a government job and does not promise a permanent position, although a good internship often leads to an offer from the same company. If you are already working full time, you do not meet the unemployment rule and should not apply.
Subjects that qualify
The portal lists 30 subjects, and adds “any other discipline as per the demand generated by the organizations”, which leaves room for related degrees that companies ask for. The list is wider than many people expect: it includes design, marketing, e-commerce and project management, not only computer science. If your degree title is close to one on the list but not identical, apply and explain your subjects; if it is far from the list, focus on another program instead. Companies taking part choose interns from these fields, so a degree in one of them gives you the best chance of a placement that fits your skills.
